SNEAK PEEK: River Island AW18

I say this all the time but it is true.

It's always weird looking at look books for the season ahead. The first of the AW18 look books are here! River Island is starting us off this season.

I have a love / hate relationship with this. I love how 80s rock star this entire thing is but I'm also wondering where I would wear pink leopard print sequin trousers.  I think if you don't know where you would wear them then that's possibly a sign they aren't for you.

I also have the high summer images which I will post at some stage but for now, lets look ahead to the colder weather of AW18.

I hope the chronic 80's of this will mean that the other stores are going to follow suit. I've been sick of the bland meh of the high street's 90s/00s buzz lately. Topshop has become unshoppable lately. Although this has happily sent me into the indie brand sphere. I'm bored of sorting through crop tops and naff frilly blouses. Been there and done that!
So I look (as usual) to the 80s for inspiration this coming season. I'm hoping to start improving my wardrobe by reducing my terrible T-shirts and bringing in some nicer separates.  This is where this collection comes in handy as its packed with layering. There appears to be a lot of stand out pieces which are layered together meaning the overall campaign is a bit....full on.

However I am feeling it. I love these amazing 'paperbag' pants (I remember this was the slang for trousers that were bunched at the waistband back in 2010) which appear to be a leather looking material and that jacket is Joan Collins brilliant.

What do we think?
